Use this checklist after your thesis chapters, findings, conclusion, tables, figures, appendices, and supervisor-requested revisions are stable.

1. Confirm that every chapter title, heading level, table title, figure title, appendix title, and reference-list heading follows your university rules.
2. Check that the thesis title, candidate name, department, degree name, submission date, and declaration pages match institutional requirements.
3. Read the abstract against the final thesis, not an earlier draft.
4. Check that research questions, aims, hypotheses, and conclusions use consistent wording across chapters.
5. Search for inconsistent spelling, capitalization, terminology, abbreviations, symbols, and hyphenation.
6. Confirm that all tables and figures are numbered in order and cited in the surrounding text.
7. Check captions, notes, legends, units, statistical notation, permissions, and source acknowledgements.
8. Update the table of contents, list of tables, list of figures, cross-references, and page numbers.
9. Check every in-text citation against the reference list for missing, extra, or inconsistent entries.
10. Review the reference list for style consistency, capitalization, italics, punctuation, DOI/URL treatment, and missing publication details.
11. Check appendices, supplementary files, ethics approvals, data statements, acknowledgements, funding statements.
12. Review spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence clarity, and academic tone after substantive editing is complete.
13. Export the final PDF and inspect it page by page for broken layout, cropped figures, blank pages, font substitution, and missing symbols.
14. Keep a clean copy, a tracked-changes copy if used, and a final submitted PDF.
15. Do a final portal or repository check before upload and keep confirmation of submission.
